rock-n-roller-coasterHave you had an amazing family vacation that you wanted to re-live? One that went off without a hitch, the kids behaved and the magic never seemed to end? In December, TravelingMom and Capital One asked YOU to share your best travel stories with the Holiday Travel Double Take Giveaway courtesy of Venture. To celebrate no-hassle rewards with Venture, Capital One offered those who submitted stories the chance to repeat their favorite family vacation without any hassles. Out of hundreds of entries, we randomly selected one lucky mom, Terrie from Indiana.

As a mom with a daughter in college and a son in high school, scheduling a vacation can be a huge hassle. In fact, Terrie and her family were so busy that it had been almost three years since their last vacation. It is a magical place at any age and that’s why Terri wanted another chance to take the family back to Disney World. “The kids are older now but it was the best family vacation ever. There is enough to do that everyone can enjoy and staying in one of the park’s hotels makes even our relaxation time fun!”

Just before Christmas, Terrie received what she called “the best Christmas present ever.” Capital One Venture gave Terrie and her family a no-hassle trip to make this vacation a reality including non-stop round trip flights to Orlando, and a four-night stay at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge which they just used this March. Terrie was kind enough to document the trip for us, and as you can see in the below video – traveling as a family this time around was seamless.

Terrie and her family had a fun-filled vacation thanks to Capital One Venture! I have a Capital One Venture card, and love how easy it is to earn miles. By earning double miles, I can plan my next family vacation twice as fast. I am already planning how I am going to use my rewards for a summer getaway with the family to Hawaii. Luckily I also won’t have to worry about when they expire – because they don’t – so I can save any extra miles for my next adventure.

With spring break behind us and summer around the corner, here’s a few tips on how you can use your rewards to save some money for your summer vacation:

  • Watch out for hidden fees! Additional charges such as baggage fees and foreign transaction fees (which can charge up to 3 percent) can add up, so take those costs into consideration when budgeting. The Capital One Venture card has no foreign transaction fees, so if you’re traveling with the family abroad this may be the card for you.
  • Find a flexible card. If your travel patterns – such as hotel or airline – vary from trip to trip, a credit card that is not linked with a specific brand may be the best choice for you.

Get the Best Deal. Check deals websites (Groupon, Living Social, for local coupons and special rates on services and activities in the area you are visiting.

Want more tips on how to save for that next vacation? On Monday, May 14th (8-9pm EST) join TravelingMom on Facebook for a chat sponsored by Capital One Venture, and ask us your travel questions. We will share advice and tips on how to save for a no-hassles summer vacation!
