EdenRocDestination running and relaxing are two of my favorite things to do. When deciding on my upcoming adventures I’ve come to realize that picking the right hotel is just as important as picking the right race. My girlfriend, Renee, and I recently snuck away to beautiful Miami Beach to run the Rock ‘n’ Roll Latin Music Half Marathon and chose to stay at the race host hotel, the Eden Roc Renaissance Miami Beach. There are often many perks to staying at a race host hotel including discount rates and transportation accommodations. This one was an easy choice – the rate was phenomenal at under $190 per night; and it was the luxurious Eden Roc.

Loved it! We stayed in a spacious double room with a beautiful view of the Intercoastal Waterway. The décor was modern, spa-inspired and definitely complimented our plan to relax. We had plenty of space to unpack and layout all of our running gear and cute race outfits, ahem. The bathroom was equally as luxurious, the overhead shower was a highlight, and there was more than enough counter space for two women to share. We were so comfortable that we chose to watch movies and lounge in the room the evening after running the half marathon.

The Amenities
The hotel is an ocean-front property that boasts four infinity pools, several restaurants and bars, the ELLE SPA, a fitness center and more. We were there for two quick nights and didn’t get to experience everything but we did have lunch and a drink outside taking advantage of the happy hour specials while enjoying the view of the ocean. The food was tasty and the Strawberry and Mango Daiquiri I sipped poolside before departing for the airport was heavenly. If you’re traveling with the kids the hotel does have a family-friendly program called Camp Roc consisting of supervised on-site day camp activities for kids ages 5-12.

The Location
It’s parked on Miami Beach next to the Fontainebleau hotel within walking distance to several shops and restaurants. The race took place 3 miles away and we easily caught the public bus in front of the hotel to go to the race expo and utilized taxi-cabs, too.

Although there was no pre-arranged race transportation, the Eden Roc ROCKED as a race host hotel. The rate, the room, the location and the beach will all lure me back.

Until next time, I’m off and running …
