Portland Traveling Sibs - A Different Type of Family Travel

Portland, Oregon. It was one of those business trips-turned-mother-daughter trip-meets traveling sibs kinda trip.

When business travel is flexible enough to morph into family travel, everyone wins. A few years ago, I worked remotely from Virginia for a company located in Portland, Oregon. On one of my trips out west, I had the opportunity to bring my teen-age daughter with me. It was wonderful. She was old enough to explore downtown Porltand on her own while I worked. When we had time together, we explored the city and beyond.

One of our excursions took us to the Portland Rose Gardens where more than 9,000 rose plantings cover 2 acres of land. The scent from the garden was delightful as was the color and beauty of each section of the garden.

We stayed downtown at the lovely Paramount Hotel, a boutique hotel with exquisite style and character.

The Dreaded “Can you give my friend a ride?” Question

wedding-cake-pictureThis weekend, my husband and I are headed to a wedding in Vermont.  A Sunday night wedding in Vermont.  Which pretty much means we have to take Monday off from work.  Which pretty much stinks.  But as this is a travel website, and not a “how to plan your (2nd) wedding as to not inconvenience everyone you know” website – I’ll leave it at that.
