shabbat-kit-bagI usually write about Kosher food products and beverages, which is required whenever I travel anywhere with my family. The kids need their nosh (snacks) and I need my chocolate and coffee! Something else I need, but don't always have to time to put on, is my make-up. My mother always said that a “little lipstick and rouge” goes a long way. Once I tried ShainDee Cosmetics, I finally experienced a kosher, hypoallergenic, fragrance free, and provides natural protection from the harmful effects of UVA and UVB rays. Could this be the answer to my make-up prayers? Wait, there is more.

Something very special about Shaindee Cosmetics is that it can be applied on Shabbat (day of rest). I am not only the Kosher Travelingmom, but the 24/6 blogging mom. I unplug from all technology from Friday night at sundown until Saturday night at sundown. Why? Shabbat is a day of rest. On this day, the Jewish people are to refrain from any type of work, or switching on and off modern appliances that require that appliance to work. For example, no internet, tweeting, driving a car, or using a blow dryer just to name a few. What does this have to do with make-up? The concept of changing shape or color on Shabbos is prohibited. ShainDee Cosmetics has excellent tips for applying long lasting make-up before Shabbat and on Shabbat. Something else that I found interesting about this product is that it can be used on Passover and Yom Tov.

On April 7, 2012 (by the way, call your mother and make plans early) Jews from around world will sit down and enjoy a Passover meal. The Star-K (Kosher food authority) has reviewed the ingredients of ShainDee Cosmetics and has determined that many of them are chometz (wheat) free. For many Observant Jews, make-up with any chometz in it during Passover is prohibited. If there is somebody allergic to some products in makeup, this might be helpful to them as well. There is a full list of chometz free products at www.star-k.org. Can a makeup that is kosher really look as good as it sounds?

Yes! I tried out the mineral foundation in light and it really felt like silk on my skin. Formulated from elements derived from earth minerals, these powders scatter light. They leave no greasy shine, no cakey texture-just the glow of natural beauty. I also love that the mineral foundation can cover and help calm inflammation from acne and rosacea. I may be well out of my teen years, but I still have some skin issues once and awhile. This is also something good for my PrimeTimePregnancy readers. I sure had some major hormone overload and it was all on my face when I was pregnant!

If you are looking for a new makeup that looks great and is good for your skin, I would highly suggest ShainDee Cosmetics. I love that these products are affordable, hypoallergenic, fragrance free, Shabbat friendly, and most of them Kosher for Passover.

Disclaimer: I received the Shabbat Kit to try out ShainDee Cosmetics and other products to write this review. These opinions are my own.
