Looking to take a vacation in the next year? Daily Getaways, a joint venture by the US Travel Association and American Express has special one day sales, now through June 4. The Daily Getaways site launched May 3, and within minutes had sold out the day’s stock, which included $60 stays at Starwood’s Aloft hotels.
Upcoming bargains include renting a car from Avis for $25 a day and a Radisson hotel for $80 a night. There are also plenty of high-end bargains, like a Loews hotel suite for $300 a night. The suites at the Portofino Bay in Orlando, at Universal Studios, start at $579 a night, so this can be a huge savings.
Each day also has a special opportunity, like the chance to ride in a Mardi Gras float, or go to New York Fashion Week shows and meet with designers. My young Taylor Swift groupie was drooling over the VIP tickets to the Country Music Awards, while I was similarly smitten with the package that lets you meet Chicago chef Rick Bayless. The special opportunities, limited to American Express cardholders, are sold by auction.
