familyitripsBoston is one of the most fun towns for family vacations. There is something for everyone. I particularly like the dining experience at Durgin Park and walking along the freedom trail. There is almost TOO much to do.

“Something for everyone” and great food is what makes Boston a perfect destination for family vacations. But how do you plan ahead when you are trying to plan for people of all ages. One of the best things that has happened for Traveling Moms is the development of the travel app. This past week I had the opportunity to review FamilyiTrips Boston travel apps.

It was a very pleasant surprise to find out how fast and easy this app was to use. The app had every activity organized in very easy to find categories using bright icons that conveyed the message of what they represented.

Here are just some of the things I loved about these FamilyiTrips apps:
  • Easy to understand categories

  • Top recommendations making it easy to find the best of the city especially if you are planning a short visit

  • Pictures of the locations making it easy to find the place

  • Very fast loading maps of all sites

  • Activities organized by age level
Boston is a walking town. There are self guided walking tours through out the city. It is great if your kid is strapped in to a stroller – they just sit there and wait for you to tell them where you are all going. But if your child is just a little bit older then all that walking can be a total drag. This is when the FamilyiTrips app becomes particularly useful. Just as with the DC travel app, this app also has one of my favorite features. The playground category. Being able to find a nice, clean, and safe playground where they can run and jump and slide while you sit for a short time, can really save a vacation. A picture of the playground is included so you can check it out before committing to finding this location. What I found out from the FamilyiTrip travel app is that Boston has a number of fun water feature parks where the kids can go and splash around on a hot summer day.

The FamilyiTrips apps are available for purchase on iTunes as well as through the FamilyiTrips.com website for 2.99 to 4.99.

In a recent review of app use by Famigo ( see the infographic HERE ), kids are using apps much more than parents which is no surprise but they also found that parents are primarily using FREE apps. I am one of those parents. I seek out free apps. When I was asked to review the FamilyiTrips apps my first concern was the cost. After having taken the FamilyiTrips Boston Travel app out for a test run I can tell you that this app is 100% worth the cost. If you are traveling to DC or Boston I highly recommend you get the FamilyiTrips app. Whether you are using them to help you plan your trip, or just using these apps mid trip, you will find something on these apps that will help make your tour a little bit easier.

Travelling to boston with family. You might like "Audio Tours USA: Boston" Also available on iTunes and Google Play for a buck. Funny, family friendly, and short enough narration to keep the attention of kids.
