Must we trade brunch dates and Bloody Mary’s for barely edible pancakes and sippy cups once we have kids? Hardly. Edible Treasures of Atlantis the Palm

Atlantis teaAfter several trips to the Atlantis Resort in Dubai, we have had the pleasure of trying several of the eateries located on site. Three of the four were very child friendly and won applause from our three children. The fourth, we reserved for a quiet moment just for my husband and me.

Shark Bites

We loved this place for its indoor and outdoor seating options. On a hot summer day, the air-conditioned indoors was a welcomed break from the hot water park, without having to pack up and head back into the hotel. This was the perfect place to chill out and cool down with some refreshing drinks and family friendly bites such as hot dogs, burgers, salads, Arabic food and really good pizza. We chose the burgers and the pizzas for our crew, and they were fantastic. The price was what you’d expect for a water park restaurant.

TBJ

The Burger Joint. OH. MY. GOODNESS. Located inside the hotel near the entrance to the water park, where the burgers are so good and the fries are so fresh, it will quickly become a favorite. The menu is pretty simple, choose a beef, chicken for veggie burger, and then give it the works, make it cheesy, or keep it old school. FYI, the veggie burger is huge, and it’s a REAL veggie burger. If you’re a hamburger aficionado, you’ll want to try the Wagyu burger…my husband’s favorite. The fries are the good hand-cut real potato popping fries. Top it all off with a rich shake. Quick, easy and good! You’ll spend a little more for these burgers, but in my opinion, the serving size is big and they are worth it.

Plato’s

Here is where my husband and I took moment of silence while the kids were in the Kids Club. Situated right off of the lobby, this lovely coffee house was the perfect place to unwind any time of day. Just sitting down amidst the lush décor made you feel a little more important for the time being. Pay attention to the details, all beautifully attended. The menu includes a variety of teas, coffees and desserts. In the evening, you can treat yourself to some fine spirits to end your day. Not exactly the same price tag as your local coffee shop, but then again, you’re paying for the ambiance and experience, as well as excellent selections and service.Atlantis Ronda Locatelli

Ronda Locatelli

I have raved about this restaurant over and over…experiencing it at the resort as well as at The Taste of Dubai. Now I’m going to fill you in on the dishes we’ve ordered that have exceeded our expectations. Start off with the Calamari and the gigantic prawns. My kids became fans of calamari here, even eating the tentacles. I love watching them explore new foods and developing a taste palette all their own. For main dishes, we’ve ordered Veal Osso Bucco with Saffron Risotto, Braised Lamb Rack with Grilled Vegetables, Rib Eye Tagliatelle with Mixed Greens, Asparagus Risotto, and two pizzas, the Margarita and the Fungi. I cannot express enough how incredible each and every dish is, from presentation to taste. Those in our group who ate the veal, lamb and Rib Eye said they were all cooked to perfection and would order them again. I chose the Asparagus Risotto, as I’m a lover of all risottos, well, those that are cooked properly. I’ve had two different risotto dishes here, and they’ve both been fabulous. As I’ve mentioned before, the children love the pizzas here, and two easily fed three of our children. The atmosphere is very family friendly day or night. Save this restaurant for a special meal out with the family, as it’s a little on the pricey side.

We look forward to trying more of the restaurants available at the Atlantis, but so far, we’re fans of eating here with our family!

Disclosure: The meal at Ronda Locatelli Atlantis was complimentary but the opinions of their food are my own.
