The highly anticipated
performing arts center in Las Vegas,
The Smith Center, has finally opened its doors to the public. The Smith Center has something to offer everyone coming to Las Vegas.
Beautifully designed and carefully built, no detail was left unturned. Myron Martin, CEO of The Smith Center, proclaimed, "This is for the people of Las Vegas...something for the generations...it has to be Carnegie Hall or better...and reflect those of famous performing arts centers to the likes of La Scala Opera House in Milan, and others from around the world." And, he did just that.
The interior design is an homage to those who helped fund the building, and to those icons that helped build the city of Las Vegas, such as the Hoover Dam. A bronzed Victory Winged Angel is featured in the lobby as well as Terrazo flooring used throughout Reynolds Hall, replicating the era and feel of the Dam.
With the opening of The Smith Center, the performing arts programs and foundations will have new places to call home:
- The Nevada Ballet
- Las Vegas Philharmonic
- Discovery Children's Museum (scheduled to open in November 2012)
- Clint Homes
Reynolds Hall will feature Broadway productions starting their opening season with, "The Color Purple." Whether it's your first theater production, or one of many, it is usually a rare opportunity to find tickets to a Broadway show for $24 a ticket! Tickets are now on sale for
The Color Purple, the premier show at Reynolds Hall.
Bowman Pavillion is the spot in Las Vegas to catch the latest and greatest in Cabaret Jazz. The intimate space is the only place to grab cocktails and soul-food inspired eats while enjoying
jazz and the company of friends. The Bowman Pavillion was built with no separation between the audience and artists in mind. If you're looking for locals, you'll find them here.
The Troesh Studio Theater will showcase performances and rehearsals from
The Nevada Ballet as well as smaller performances, children's performances and smaller community events and private gatherings. The Nevada Ballet is slated to debut several exciting new perofrmances including their 40th Anniversary Gala and a new take on the Nutcracker this holiday season.
