Steamboat Springs Ski ResortSteamboat Springs, Colorado is where cowboy life meets shredder life. Ranching, rodeo and skiing have been the cowboy way there for as long as ranching has existed in Yampa Valley. It’s intertwined into the narrative of the town, where young cowboys learn to ride horseback as early as they learn to ski.

Residence Inn Offers Space You Need for Traveling with Teens

collegeSpace is the key to a successful week of college tours. My teen son, his godmother, his buddy, and I had all the space we needed while staying at Residence Inns during our college tour of Southern California and all of the trunk room we needed thanks to the Dodge Journey.

Residence Inns are extended stay hotels, so they cater to business people on long-term assignment. But the same features that make a Residence Inn a comfortable place for a business person to stay for several weeks make the hotel chain a perfect place to stay when traveling with teens: extra space, a fully equipped kitchen, and plenty of high quality, free food.

Ski-Granby-RanchMy first visit to Ski Granby Ranch, a family-friendly and affordable Colorado ski resort, won’t be my last! The 2012-2013 Colorado Ski season may be over but the positive experience lingers on. Budget friendly lift tickets. No long lines. Easily navigated ski terrain. And just plain fun! Did I mention that this Traveling Grandmom finally “got” skiing, thanks to my private ski lesson with “Meatball?” Yes, you read that right – Meatball, but I digress.

Play ball...it's opening day around Chicago! If only there weren't still snow on the ground. Spring arrives perenially late in these parts, but thankfully, I still have sunny memories of our spring break in the desert. Plenty of sun, a desert in bloom, plus it's home to the MLB's Cactus League— Arizona's a home run for the whole family.

Let's Go Cubbies!
