Favorite Foodie Stops at the Epcot Flower and Garden Festival

Italy
: Well of course I would suggest you start by saying "Ciao" in Italy. What better way to live the dolce vita than with Piazza San Marco alla Disney as a backdrop. The Primavera Garden festival booth will wet your appetite with prosecco mom and dad and Lasagna Primavera made with fresh vegetables of all types.

Japan: The Hanami booth in the Japanese Pavilion will make you want to try the Frushi (fresh strawberries, pineapple and cantaloupe rolled with coconut rice)  or the Green Teal Flan. Parents will enjoy the refreshing Yuzu Rita (frozen blend of tequila, triple sec, lime and a hint of Yuzu) on a hot day.  (Trust me, this was delicious, a very definite close second to the prosecco.)

what to eat at epcot flower and garden festivalFrance: Named for an art gallery in Paris,  L'Orangerie in the French Pavilion goes beyond the traditional Parisien baguette. The Verrine charlotte au pèches (Caramelized peaches and rosemary and light vanilla cream) will satisfy even the youngest foodie in the family.

Mexico: Of course if you are looking for a springtime vegetables with a kick, Jardin de Fiestas in the Mexico Pavilion offers carnita, tostadas and flan.

Canada
: The Pineapple Promenade offers the famous DoleWhip delight.

While there is so much to see and do in Epcot like riding Chevrolet's  Test Track or Soarin', the Epcot Flower and Garden Festival offers a unique chance to sample nutritious and creative recipes from all over the world.  Just think, you can live the dolce vita, or good life as a foodie while you eat and sip delicious treats, knowing that your kids are taking in the world around them.

Boone Lead Pic resizedRecently, my mountain family connected with our coastal cousins and put my 7 Tips for a Successful Family Reunion to use for a wonderful family reunion in beautiful Banner Elk, North Carolina.

The "North Carolina High Country" is known for its gorgeous mountains and year-round opportunities for activities such as skiing, hiking, biking, fishing, golfing, and more.

It was the perfect location for our gathering full of active children and teens.

Modern Magic at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress Orlando

hyatt poolBefore we were guests of the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress, my family never realized all that a luxury hotel could offer. After all, when we’re visiting the busy Orlando area theme parks, we usually don’t ask much in terms of lodging. A shower and a place to lay our heads usually do the trick. If you throw in a free continental breakfast, you win a spot in our hearts together.

But on my family’s recent trip to the Disney Parks for the TMOM Retreat, the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress totally changed my mind about lodging. Sure, some hotels are mere rest stops between theme park visits. But as my family quickly discovered, the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress is a luxury destination in and of itself.

Aquatica – Sea World’s Waterpark in Orlando, FL

Aquatica

Aquatica waterpark OrlandoAquatica waterpark is one of the top waterparks in Orlando, Florida. Aquatica is located right next door to Sea World and is the perfect way to spend a hot Florida day.

We were offered the chance to visit Sea World’s waterpark with the kids and I’m glad we did -- I didn’t realize how much fun we'd have. As far as waterparks go this is one of the best I’ve been too. There were loads of water rides, plus wave pools and kid areas, giving you numerous options to choose from. I’m sure that’s why most of the lines were little to no wait.

Visiting Jungle Island Animal Park in Miami

Submit to DeliciousSubmit to DiggSubmit to FacebookSubmit to Google BookmarksSubmit to StumbleuponSubmit to TechnoratiSubmit to TwitterSubmit to LinkedIn

Jungle island4What caught my eye about Jungle Island when I was searching for fun things to do Miami with my boys, was the amount of shows and animal interactions they offered. There are zoos and parks where you can see animals, and it’s great, but having the opportunity to interact with them is even better!

What to do and see in Jungle Island:

1. Holding the Animals – The adventure starts as soon as you walk in. You are greeted by members of the staff holding animals that you can touch and photograph with. The not so good part is that they are the ones in charge of photos and each cost $20.
