ripleys aquariumNot everyday can be sunny, even at the beach. Luckily, many tourist towns have Ripley’s to keep the kids entertained when the rain falls. Myrtle Beach, SC is no exception! On a recent trip there with my son, the weather was gloomy and cold, so we hit everything Ripley’s had to offer! We started out by visiting the Ripley’s Aquarium.

Ford-Theatre3I’ll admit it. When it comes to vacations, my family leans heavily toward fun. Sure, if it’s educational, that’s a big plus, but it is never really the priority. So when we had the opportunity to tie a day trip to one of our favorite cities – Washington DC – to our daughter’s 3rd grade social studies curriculum, we pounced.

Gaylord Opryland Accessible & Fun for All

OprylandViewing Nashville from my Frontier flight at 20,000 feet I am struck by how small this town is really is. Over the last 5 days it has felt huge. Staying at the Gaylord Opryland, jokingly referred to as NashVegas, is somewhat of a Jules Vern-ish experience. This massive hotel property, the largest non gambling hotel in the US, gives you the feeling of being in your own world. At times it is easy to forget you are essentially enclosed in a bubble like environment, the attention to detail is that convincing. Not to mention that I received some of the best customer service I have ever had on a trip here. People are happy to work here and it genuinely shows in their guest interactions.

coopersrockIf your family is anything like mine, being outdoors rules! My kids (four and two) love anything dealing with the woods. I’m proud to say that my two year old can hike a little over a mile on his tiny little legs before he starts lagging and gets put in the Kelty pack. One of the best things about living in West Virginia is its beauty. We are lucky to live near Coopers Rock State Park, a botanical garden and several rail trails.

Dolphin-TaleWinter has taken over the quaint Gulf Coast beach town of Clearwater, Florida. No, not the kind of winter with snow, ice and frigid temperatures. This is a winter we can all embrace—Winter is the name of the celebrity dolphin from Hollywood’s popular family movie, Dolphin Tale, who lives at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium (CMA).
