Growing up in Seattle, one of our family’s favorite things to do on a Sunday afternoon was visit the Ballard Locks. Watching boats pass through the locks process, exploring the botanical gardens and looking for fish on the fish ladder was fun and free entertainment that still draws local families and tourists alike.

This weekend our family had so much fun at Bellevue's Snowflake Lane and the Magic Season Ice Arena. These events are part of Bellevue’s "Magic Season". Even my teen and her friend had a good time, now that’s high praise. 
Can Christmas shopping be fun and even relaxing? My answer is yes! You might be wondering how this is possible. The biggest Christmas shopping stresses are traffic, parking, finding the right gifts and fitting it all in to your busy schedule, right? Exhausting. My best friend and I had the opportunity to try the "Shop and Stay" package at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue, and believe we have found the key to making Christmas shopping a great experience. 
We found Edmonton, Alberta, Canada to be the perfect starting point for our family vacation to the beautiful Alberta province. Canada's festival city welcomes families the entire year through with thriving arts and festivals attracting visiting families from around the world.
