AlaskaWhen my family voted for Alaska as our cruise destination, I was a bit disappointed. Don’t get me wrong, it was a great position to be in, but I’m not a cold weather person and not exactly Nature Girl, so I’d had some island-kind of places in mind. I quickly realized that being outvoted is sometimes the best gift of all.

Alaska2Traveling in a camper through Alaska puts you right in the middle of all the adventure. It also can be affordable too - my son and I booked our camper through ABCMotorHome.com. This was a Father & Son trip, so we picked the standard Camper set up. After a local trip to Walmart, we stocked up and headed out for our 6 day camper trip and enjoyed every minute of it. If you want to travel on a budget and like the sense of adventure, then planning your next Alaska trip in a camper is the best way to go!

seattle four seasonsThe Four Seasons Seattle fully embraces the Northwest’s commitment to quality and customer service, and after a weekend visit I feel spoiled for anything less.  A luxury hotel built for Seattle, the colors, furnishings and finishes, like native wood and stone and local artisan glass, truly capture the Pacific Northwest.  The results are a beautiful balance of clean and modern, with a natural, welcoming warmth.

rushmoreRoad trips can be unpredictable. We had to get from the West Coast to the East Coast and we didn't have a lot of time to spend along the way. We had mapped out our route and planned on a couple of stops. But this was essentially a straight shot cross country with a two night stop in St. Louis to catch our breath.

SummitSkiAreaMtHoodThere are numerous places to ski on Mt. Hood, the massive mountain near Portland, Oregon.  I have not had the pleasure of skiing all of them, but I have skied Summit with all three kids.  Our kids are beginner skiers despite having lived in the Pacific Northwest for years.  About the time they were getting the hang of it we moved to Florida and then to Nevada.  We never went skiing during those assignments.  We’ve been back in Oregon for a little over a month now and have taken the kids up the mountain a few times.
