BarbieFashionistas are about to descend on Lincoln Center for New York Fashion Week 2012. But let’s face it, for most of us mere mortals, our invitations are not in the mail for these exclusive events.

There is one event that I plan on attending, accompanied by a very exuberant 7 year-old, and that is Barbie’s Dream Closet Comes to Life event at the David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center.  At this event you will have the chance to virtually raid Barbie's oh-so-awesome closet.

Rumor has it that the Barbie installation will feature a set of 24-foot tall, jewel encrusted doors leading into a two-story, 9,000 square-foot set with multiple dressing vignettes. Barbie fans will be able to use augmented reality technology “mirrors” that allow users to literally doll themselves up in her most iconic, playful and glamorous outfits from the past five decades.  What more could a pink loving girl ask for?

This free event will take place Sun. Feb. 12 &13 from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.  Plan on getting there early!

There are also a few grown-up events the general public can attend during Fashion Week or you can just shop around town and soak up the fashion energy.
