Visiting the Country Inns in the White Mountains

redhouseAs a parent, I don't necessarily consider country inns and bed and breakfasts for our family travel.  I think of bed and breakfasts as romantic getaway locations, filled with valuable antiques, and not appropriate for small children.  This past weekend, my husband and I, as guests of the Country Inns in the White Mountains, toured inns as part of the Inn to Inn Cookie Tour in New Hampshire.  We were surprised to find that several of the inns are actually kid friendly and appropriate for little ones.

The Old Red Inn and Cottages, located in North Conway, is surprisingly family friendly.  The Inn offers cottages with kitchenettes, private baths, and loads of privacy.  There's also a pool for kids to enjoy.  It's a great option for family travel, because it's less expensive than some of the nearby resorts, and is quaint and unique.

The Old Red Inn and Cottages also offers family-friendly packages, like a Storyland package in the summer, and a Polar Express package in the winter months.

Disclosure: I received tickets to the Inn to Inn Cookie Tour at no cost.  I was given complimentary lodging at the Covered Bridge House.

It is a common mispreception that B&B's are not appropriate for kids. Many of us not only accept kids but encourage it. kids love the home-like feeling and having breakfast in their pj's. Parents just have to make sure the kids behave.
