clevelandshouse-3If you live in Ontario, or have plans on visiting this Canadian province this summer, Muskoka is one of the best places to spend your summer vacation. Locals, celebrities and families across North America love Muskoka for its sandy beaches, numerous islands and endless blue lakes - Joseph, Rosseau and Muskoka. The area is made up of several different towns with Huntsville, Bracebridge and Gravenhurst being the largest.
Minnett, Ontario is my favorite spot in Muskoka. My family and I have visited this little spot a few times and although we passed by the infamous Clevelands House, we never had a chance to visit until recently. Last week, my three children and I took a road trip to this family resort to see what all the fuss was about.

Located directly on the beautiful Lake Rosseau, this resort has become somewhat of a historial landmark in Minett with families flocking here since it opened in 1869. The accommodations here are very rustic and cottage-like and can accommodate small and large families quite comfortably.

Along with two restaurants, the property is equipped with an excellent Kids Club, where you can drop off your children for the day (even babies!). The day camp is included in your rate so there is no exra fee for your kids to take part in these organized activiites.

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner is served in the main Dining Room and you are assigned the same waitress and table during your stay. Just like a cruise ;). If for some reason you happen to miss a mealtime, Duke's is a great restaurant on property (overlooking the lake) and food can be purchased there for an additional charge.

Kids aren't the only ones who get to play at Clevelands House! The resort also has:
  • 4 pools
  • 3 hot tubs
  • Free non motorized boat rentals
  • Tennis Academy
  • Floating Water Park on the lake
  • Fitness Centre
  • Mini Putt
  • Shuffleboard
  • Basketball
  • Floor Hockey
  • Badminton
  • Horseshoe Pit
  • Ping-Pong
  • Water Skiing
  • Golf Course and More

clevelands-houseConclusion: Is Clevelands House is a home away from home and a hidden gem that is full of heart and has the essence of Muskoka in its soul. This resort welcomes you in like a family member and captures the hearts of all those who visit. I talked to many of the guests during my stay and some of them had been coming since they were a kid. My children cried when we left because they felt so comfortable and at ease with the staff and everyone around them. With the amenities and services provided here you can have an all-inclusive vacation (drinks are the only non-exclusive item) that you can customize according to your family’s preferences. You can also full relax and take some time out as a couple if you choose which is huge when vacationing with children.
