The Only Kite Festival in the World

Day of the Dead is a holiday celebrated throughout most Central America and Mexico. Every country has a different way to celebrate this unique holiday, but none top it off like Guatemala. 

 

Imagine seeing kites that are literally over 36 meters in diameter, hand made and soaring through the skies! The Day of the Dead Kite Festival is only in Guatemala and can not be seen anywhere in the world on November 1. The tradition of flying these amazing kites is over 500 years old and it's about the kites reaching out and talking to the spirits of the dead ancestors.
