Let’s face it; while Disney World is one of the “Happiest Places on Earth”, it is also, one of the most exhausting places on earth. You don’t go to Disney World to relax. You go for the fun, the memories and the excitement. Sadly, all of that excitement can leave you needing a vacation AFTER your vacation.
Last month after spending 3 nights at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and having a wonderful time, I took advantage of a night at Lighthouse Resort & Spa. It was exactly what I needed! Instead of returning home weary from trekking through Disney World, I felt refreshed and excited to share my adventures. That one day extra made all the difference!
Lighthouse Resort & Spa has 1, 2, 3 & 4 bedroom luxury villas. The 3 bedroom was perfect for me to share with two other Traveling Moms. There were two master bathrooms with jetted tubs that I quickly took advantage of to soothe my achy muscles from the Traveling Mom Scavenger Hunt at Epcot. The third bedroom was smaller with a daybed/trundle combination that would have been perfect for younger kids.
Even though the villa has a full kitchen, I was in the mood to explore in the morning so I walked over to The Beacon Deli (on property) and had a bagel. I wish I could have come back for lunch because the deli sandwiches looked delicious.
I checked out the pool which is wheelchair friendly with a zero entry design. Then I walked through the lobby to visit the workroom, which was quite large and would have had everything my teen boys need to lift weights. There is, also, a small movie theater and arcade in this area. I was told that if the movie theater is not busy, they will put in any movie you bring in.
Next, I was off to the Relaxed, Yet? spa which is coincidently owned by Niki Bryan Spas, the same company that runs spas at some of the top Disney World hotels. I was treated to a relaxing Swedish Massage that ended my vacation-after-Disney vacation. Look for my review on the spa soon.
While I enjoyed my time after Disney World at Lighthouse Resort & Spa I can see how this would be a great location for a family enjoying many of the Orlando area attractions. It is 4 miles from Disney World so you would really need to rent a car if staying here but it is such a great value it would be worth it. You could make meals in the room, escape the park madness and have plenty of room for everyone to have their own space at a reasonable price.
