How many schools can I visit in one day? If you're a mom planning college travel logistics, then you may be looking beyond the primary destination to plan the best way to get the most of out of the college visit road trip. It may be possible to visit more than one school depending on the proximity of the schools and the amount time spent on each campus and whether or not your teen is interested in the programs the schools have to offer.
If you're planning to visit Virginia Tech, the state's largest university, located in Blacksburg, Va., then visiting two schools in one day in southwest Virginia is a pretty safe number. Radford University, also a state university, is just over 15 miles from Tech--about a 20 minute drive. It would be easy to spend the morning at one school and the afternoon at the other.
Head about 40 miles north of Blacksburg to Roanoke and here you'll find private schools: Hollins University, Jefferson College of Health Sciences, and Roanoke College (located in Salem, Va.) and not much farther is Ferrum College, located just south of Roanoke.
Depending on programs of study, location, and tuition, you may find that there's more than one destination on any college road trip.
