Did you watch the show on TLC? Like it? Hate it? do you fantasize about going back to work?

No, and don't plan on it. I am unfortunately a working mom. If I didnt have to I would not work. These women have no idea how lucky they are and they are throwing it all away for accolades. They are selfish and are telling the children that being home, taking care of them is not enough. I know working has more instant gratification, but at the end of the dayits not about you. You still have to go home and keep house, you are still the mom. They will just be more tired, more irritable. It is impossible to give 100% in all aspects, unfortunately children are often the ones that get the short end of the stick.

I agree. Don't that make the life of a working mom seem unrealistically easy? The grass is always greener...

It is hard. Brenflor, are you working full time?
I didn't see the Soccer Mom show but I do understand the desire to work. I know that I do not want to be home 24/7. I also know that I don't want to be gone 60 hours/ week. I have never worked as much as I do now that I started TMOM. Luckily, I have flexibility. But that's hard. I don't know of a perfect solution but my take on the show was they wanted to show SAHMs how easy they have it, if you compare it to a corporate work day. Not fair either.

Things generally are so expensive, school, clothes, college and to make ends meet and still fit in a trip to Italy or any other fun place "work is necessary for both parents" being in education, we don't make as much as a business, but i've worked my way over the years to do ok. i'm a 10mt,employee but have the choice to work when i want in the summer and get paid well. its taken me 30 years!!!! but it was all worth it. Now with the kids gone, thinking about my Docdorate in Special Ed. ..........to be continued...

Honestly, I don't want to go back to work. I quit when I was pregnant with my oldest and have zero desire to go back to anything full time.
I used to teach and love doing it but you cannot teach part time around here (I know some places let you job share, but I've yet to find one in Dallas).
So until I figure something out, I'd rather stay home. I refuse to work doing something that isn't stimulating (I did enough of those kind of jobs to work my way through grad school). And I'm not giving up my time with my kids in order to be able to work at a job I love.
Plus, both of us working interferes with our lifestyle. If I'm home, we can take off whenever we want to. If I work, it's one more schedule to consider. ;o)
